In NZ it basically means 'not cheddar'! Thinking of the wonderful array of cheeses I had in Burgundy. Last year Ella and I had a cheese Advent calendar and it was excellent

Yep! The border collie/bearded collie of my childhood learnt the same thing.

My current tabby cat has also learnt the word 'walk'!

I live with two cats a dog and a rabbit. The cats are my favourites (found abandoned on the side of a country road aged five weeks), but the dog is very cute. The rabbit is a bit evil. Photo of a happy Maisie and my camera-averse teen

"Woo hoo" says Nicky, "look at us helping increase competition in the supermarket sector"... what exactly did she do?

Also great for Auckland, Waikato potentially... and the rest of us?

I didn't sit through but saw soundbites from it on the news.

TBF there were a number of apologies made to her at the press briefing though

What has Peeni Henare got to say? Would prefer he was speaking for Labour's Māori caucus (or Willow-Jean Prime)

Would prefer Peeni Henare speaking for the Māori Labour caucus than Willie Jackson

Older white woman... I'd say 60ish? +/- 10 years :)

And defense! Amazing defense on old tires. Was LL the only one on a 1-stop strategy?

You'll be in good company! Last time I took the train to Featherston the woman sitting opposite me was writing poetry :)

I always find public transport in WLG pretty easy compared with Chch. Very easy to get to airport once you get to Central Rail Station - Airport bus goes from nearby. Goes about every 15/20mins

Also a long held Lincoln tradition! And I'm sure still available ;)
November 9, 2025 at 1:33 AM
Ha ha - small world! I'm back living in Lincoln now - very different from your dad's day (but the fish and chips shop is still there)
November 8, 2025 at 11:27 PM
Indeed. I hear alot from them. Having said that, there are quite a few Luxon-style Christians about these days, as seen during Covid - entitled and self-serving antivaxxers (like my sister and BIL)

Ah cool. That's a lot of potatoes! If he ever ate fish & chips during his time here (our only takeaway delicacy except Hillyers Pies) I probably served him :)

Yes, it seems odd for a self-proclaimed devotedly Christian male to not follow one of the basic tenets of his Christ.

Having grown up in Lincoln I can confirm that boiled potatoes (homegrown) with butter was a big part of my upbringing. When was your dad here?
November 8, 2025 at 11:07 PM
That's a bit cute

He was never labeled a good one by me! Saw him speak early in this term; came across as privileged (part of the Carter family dynasty) and not very knowledgeable of his then-brief (tourism)
