We simulate the 18x18 cylinder in our paper (324 qubits -see Fig. 5). Each quench was done with a single CPU, the final wavefunction takes up 40MB of RAM, and the accuracy of the simulation is better than the quantum annealer (see Fig. 3a scaling). So the laptop claim is well-founded.
