Put it all together back in Unreal Engine 5, turns out the baked lighting on the textures created a different kind of double sided effect, making 1 side darker than the other. I might look at changing this later but for now I'm enjoying how it looks

As nice as my attempts to texture in Photopea were, nothing compares to S3P and the retextures really show that, especially in the wood
September 27, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Took some time off to chill and prep myself for going back to uni, but I got S3P back yesterday and I'm already full steam ahead with revisiting the tiles! I made a few other things I can finally get to texturing as well so keep an eye out for those in the coming days/weeks!

Despite not having my regular texturing softwares, I'm really trying my best to create fun textures with what I have (Photopea coming in clutch). This is the best I have created so far and with all of my tiles being double sided with their textures, this shows off the difference in side the best

Ok now actually wood time, I love it in hand painting, I loved in in the chest and I love it even more in planks. I went for a wood that has some age and roughness, I mixed the thick stylized grain with some warping and splitting/slashes in the wood to make it seem scuffed. Tomorrow we add colour!

I know I said wood next but I couldn't help but feel like I could take the stone wall a little bit further. I went back over the cracks and made them more pronounced, and added a splotchy base texture. I think it gives a lot more personality and matches the aged look I was going for

Since I don't have my regular texturing software, I decided to try baking a normal map and ambient occlusion in Maya and take the wall into UE5 and see how it looks. Once I get my software back I'll redo it but it's crazy how much of a difference these 2 maps make to a model. Next stop, wood planks!

MORE ZBRUSH! My Adobe subscription has run out so I'm now all in on ZBrush until October when I can get it back. I want to practice materials until I can memorise the steps, so I'm creating tileable pieces, starting with stone bricks! Learning ZBrush is unironically the most fun I've had all summer

This month I started my journey in ZBrush. Starting with a simple chest, a focus on getting comfortable with the software, starting with wood and metals. I'm very proud of this for my first time in the software. Many more to come!

I feel like everyone has those terms that seem scary when you don't know them. For me it was baking normal maps, I had no clue what it was, I figured it was some super complicated procedure. Now I've done it and realised it's not some scary thing it makes me wish there was a games artist dictionary

New week, new software. In my next year of university we're going to learn ZBrush so I'm giving it a go now. I will now happily get lost in wood carving for hours, it's very therapeutic. It seems making wood is just as satisfying in sculpting as in texturing, can I be a wood specialist?

My first outdoor environment complete! I decided to try my hand at a fuller outdoor environment, focussing on building it in UE5 and adding a little animation and unique morning and evening lighting.

THESE are the kind of moments I live for with environments. THIS is why I say progress pictures are worth as much as the final renders. There is nothing like seeing where you were against how far you've come. To think this started as just a simple building drawing (Final result coming soon...)

Was tasked to make a stylized medieval fantasy dagger made as part of my latest 3D lesson. I made a stone dagger, with a jagged stone blade and gemstone on the handle, all held together by vines.

Back to modelling we go! Made for a friend's game demo as part of his environment. A mushroom house perfect for little stargazers!

Another day another WIP, I know I said the house I was already posting would be my first project of the new year, but a friend has requested my help in some custom pieces for a game environment for his game demo and I simply must help. So introducing, a mushroom house for a woodland stargazer

First little self-set project of the year, learning how to do isometric concept art! Getting play around with the design and purpose behind the building was fun, took a while of making the building before deciding what it was. I settled on this adorable little blue hotel/motel situation!
