You know how I know that Republicans are winning? Bc they successfully bait the country into endless loops of debating stories from 5 years ago. Democracy is going away today and arguing about COVID is participating in a diversion.

Doesn’t “ruin” anything if it’s true. Hopefully just a wake up call.

However this shakes out I hope we remember where the bigger battle lay. As a democracy, a politician like Schumer embodies the values and beliefs of the ppl of NY. Blaming a politician for being themselves has a small ROI for a lot of effort. Going out to talk to the ppl can make lasting change

I just want to make sure I’m correct who the audience is. Trump supporters are a monolith on this topic believing that what you describe is making America great. So we’re trying to get Democrats to care enough to unite long enough that they can end this madness?

Word. There’s no democratic law in America until these many crimes are punished. Otherwise that day will be just a pause until MAGA version 3.0 sweeps in to finish it.

This is an absurd statement. Trump is the embodiment of 40 yrs of Republican values since the Reagan administration and Falwell’s moral majority. We just grew complacent and thought they can’t all be that bad or actually get their way. Downplay Trump’s support at your own peril.

Looks like Trump knows polls don’t matter in a post-democracy America. To fight Trump you need money, lawyers, journalists, protesters, and just fighters. Worry about whether you’ll get to vote again, not the opinions of ppl who already voted against democracy.

Thank you @theatlantic.com . The Bsky is abuzz with terms like "political consequences", "polls", and "impeachment" like POTUS or the GOP think free democracy trappings matter any more. Worry about whether you'll be able to vote in a fair election again, not how other people will vote.
June 22, 2025 at 1:18 AM
You speak as though he thinks we’re still a democracy and politics matters. I don’t believe POTUS or those around him consider free democracy ideals to be relevant any more. So long as there’s a crisis, it’s an excuse to be a tyrant.

Unless this is exclusive to NYC, it smacks of right-wing conspiracy theory like Jerry Falwell’s “silent majority” or recently the “deep state” blocking the majority conservative public. If poll-based predictions keep proving wrong, seems the model needs rethinking.

Ooo, that does sound #TooFar

Media makes $$ telling what people WANT to hear, not by running a secret brainwashing scam. The internet will tell you anything, you choose what you WANT to believe. That’s how information economics works. I’m not seeing regret for the vote, just false sympathy that it “must be this way”.

Unfortunately this is woefully incomplete. We’ve lost a dozen grants so far at UArizona and we didn’t make the list. Neither has NAU or ASU losses appeared here.
