Well jadies and lentilmen, I have officially passed my thesis defense! Enjoying my first beer in 5 months to celebrate!

Got my master's thesis defense in about half an hour and I'm feeling snazzy and ready to go! I'm happy to feel confident enough to dress the way I want (i.e. a lovely skirt) so here's hoping everything goes well!

I have finally compiled a complete draft of my thesis after wrangling PDFs for 5 hours. How is Adobe the norm? This is one of the worst programs I've ever had to use in my life.

Here's the excellent story up on CBS Chicago about the piece I wrote for the Sing Me a Story Foundation, "Defiant Joy." I'm grateful for being connected with this awesome opportunity and for being able to help Ky's story be told.

Today has been the longest I've spent composing in a while in one go, about 13 hours or so. I know I procrastinate and work well when a deadline is right around the corner but geez, it's my day off. I should have budgeted time more efficiently, but I'm super happy with the progress I made.

Would it be incorrect to say that the black sheep of the family could be considered the Agnus D.E.I.?

It's not even 4am and I'm awake with my head simultaneously filled with ideas and dread and this is a terrible combo for trying to take care of myself. Sometimes it would be nice to just shut off, but that's too much to ask, I guess.

My motto is to live with Defiant Joy and Radical Hope in my life but each day it gets a little harder. I am looking more and more to the little things in life for joy and hope and that has helped immensely.
