My sister Mary and I went in search of our father's boyhood home. My dad showed me back in the 90s. We found it. The biggest question as a result? Did my grandfather build the barn and outbuildings? We then stopped at the cemetery on our way home.

I used ChatGPT to enhance the only picture of my uncle. I first asked to enhance and then they if I wanted to change the background.

I’m excited to get back to readable parish records from the 1600s. I’m making a spreadsheet with all known surnames from this diocese.

New Year’s dinner. First time smoking a brisket. It fell apart in my hands.

I came across this in the 1711 Catholic baptism records. Does anyone know what the words in the red circle mean?

I love how clear this writing is from 1704. I just wish they added in the age of the parents.

I guess my British DNA must have come from distant Danish cousins. It looks like Danelaw. Maybe I'm related to Rollo? 😁

I hate when Rudolph tells Frosty a dad joke. Frosty can’t stop laughing. 😂 😂😂😂

I bought this book a year ago. I’ve only read about 20 or 30 pages because I go down the rabbit hole with all of the suggested links in the margins. One night, I was looking at old Swedish maps from the 1600s for 4 hours. 1 O’clock am is way past my bedtime. 😂😂😂

I always wondered where my grandparents met. August emigrated to America at 18 when Paulina was 5. So they wouldn’t have know each other in Svarteborg. August was visiting his Dad Samuel and Paulina was living on the same farm. You never know when you will meet your soulmate.

My Big Y-DNA journey from Africa to southwest Sweden. The archeological sites on the map are from people matching my Y-DNA tree. The ones in Iceland are from 2 or 3 mutations with common ancestors dating back to 700 to 900 AD. I hope I explained this correctly. Information from FamilyTreeDNA.

Mine come from a few neighboring parishes in Sweden and from northwest Germany.
