Note that the Tesla Energy is a fast-growing and profitable segment of the business. Solar panels, energy storage solutions like Powerall, etc. A substantial and growing cash generator. Not 100% consumer-facing (also commercial customers) less vulnerable to consumer boycott. A new vista for action.

A SUBSTANTIAL portion of Tesla’s lifetime profitability—and the reason it didn’t post negative net income in Q1—is attributable to $595 mil in emission credit sales. As its fleet is 100% EV, federal regulations permit sales of carbon credits to car manufacturers not meeting fleet emissions standards
