Final Oscars Predictions:

Finally, Best Picture.

Pretty sure about the first 8. Nine, surprisingly, might miss, opening the space for either Sing Sing or September 5. Lets see what happens.

Structure: Cinematography, Film Editing, Director

I think Nickel Boys depends on this Cinematography nod to assure Best Picture. If it misses here, not a good morning then. The Brutalist might miss Film Editing, that might be revealing on its chances to win BP. Director big miss might be Berger!

Acting Nominees:

I’m pretty confident on the first three slots of each category. I believe all 5th slots are open still, and the category I think I will go 5/5 for in Best Lead Actor. We’ll wait and see.

Screenplays:

Not much to add here. Nominees are pretty clear.

Now, Features: International, Documentary, Animated.

International has always been difficult to predict. I might go 3/5 in the end. I feel very safe with BOTH Docs and Animated. Yes, I believe Disney still has enough man-power to enter two films, but Moana 2 obviously the weakest link.

Next, Crafts: Production Design, Costume Design, Make-Up & Hairstyling, Visual Effects.

Probably Make-Up is where I feel more shaky, but on the others I feel very secure. Gladiator II might spoil it for me and various people though.

First up, Audio Awards: Sound, Original Song, and Original Score. A reminder that all predictions are in order of likelihood. These first categories don’t have many surprises (I think). You be the judge of that.

I don’t have premium Letterboxd, but I can assure you, this is true. Bonus: The Nice Guys (2016) was the only film I watched more than once this year.
