107 years ago, the guns went silent on the western front, signaling the end of the First World War. Today, we honor the immense sacrifices our veterans have made in the defense our freedoms at home and abroad.

I was proud to advocate in the General Assembly for an appropriation that partnered with many entities to make this amphitheater project a reality. Lorain will have a new jewel in the Black River Landing to draw people from all over the state.

What just happened in Orem and earlier in Minnesota is heartbreaking and unacceptable. Political violence is an attack on Freedom, Justice, and Opportunity. My prayers are with their families as they try to heal from these tragedies.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost on September 11, 2001.

As we honor those lost through our thoughts and prayers, we also pay tribute to the first responders who rushed to save others 24 years ago.

Labor Day is more than a holiday. It is a reminder of the sacrifices workers continue to make for better pay, benefits, and working conditions. All work has dignity and all workers deserve respect.
