Don’t get me wrong. There are times he throws a really good tight breaking slider. He just lacks consistency with it. Just a pitch he needs to continue to work on, which I’m sure he will and it could be a whole lot better next year.

I just mean most of the time his slider lacks that sharp late break. It’s flat. The biggest benefit of it is the velocity differential from his fastball. And it can be effective provided he’s throwing the fastball for strikes, which lately he hasn’t been. And the fb has been 2-3 mph slower.

Palencia will have to develop a better repertoire of pitches. His slider is rarely sharp, same with his splitter. If he’s going to be a truly elite closer he can’t just rely on the fastball.

Jeffries is certainly not without reproach. But “chastising” him for making a post about the cost of living, which is by far and away the #1 issue for Americans, seems a bit short sighted. Screaming about authoritarianism 24/7 isn’t as effective as you think it is.

I wouldn’t say they’re on a 91 win pace. Recent trends would suggest otherwise.

Suzuki has to do his job there. And Carson Kelly absolutely should not be in the cleanup spot. He should be a 7th or lower hitter anytime he’s in the lineup.
