Right, in the "glass bead" model of time / the machine model doesn't take into account that each moment has its own capacity or capacities for work, learning, and love changes depends on many factors. Duration (history / concresense) is only one.

Hey-- that's pretty good! Elastic as a metaphor for flow powered by curiosity. Curiosity does make me stretch outside of normal. Those kinds of pursuits push me out of time and into flow. It's my favorite mode of being, honestly. The clock work world has very little patience for it, I've found

Respecting each other's time and attention.

Maybe, to be ethical in this new age is to reflect deeply on what the algorithms are doing to us and integrate that shadow. Then we can live into new forms of scaled conversations.

Not to be pedantic but Franklin said we had "a republic if you can keep it."

There is a difference. In a working republic people elect representatives that negotiate their interests. Representatives should look out for the voting public, not the interests of a billionaire class.
