I’ve got to get back there-went to Hampden-Sydney in the early eighties and haven’t returned since. Wasn’t nearly as progressive back then, of course: got kept out of a local bar because my companion was too dark…

Saw them twice-once opening for Tears for Fears, and again at a “Party on the Patio” show in downtown Columbus where the band and the crowd were on the same level. Talk about intimate.

When Jimmy escapes to see the sights in DC is probably my favorite montage in all of movie history. By the time he gets to the Lincoln Memorial with the black man and his grandson I’m bawling. Every single time.
