Conversely, mobility significantly increases welfare disparities within the less educated population, with gains of around 60% in the wealthiest départements and smaller gains of about 15% in the least connected ones.

We also calibrate a parameter capturing accessibility to education, which appears to be quite heterogeneous across regions, with Dakar standing out.

We develop a Random Utility Model with endogenous education and migration decisions. We calibrate it with census data & Labor Force Survey data from Senegal and stress the heterogeneity in connectivity (across regions + internationally).

We first document the importance of Dakar as a destination for (high-skilled) internal migrants as well as an origin region for international emigration.
Less-educated internal migration is less concentrated.
