I loved this book so much.
A big fluffy yellow one from Italy that makes you feel like you're being attended to by angels. No story attached, apart from the fact that I rejigged the towel cupboard yesterday and we have close to 60 towels. I have absolutely no idea how we ended up with that many.

Neither by any stretch contemporary, except in theme and tone, the two best novels I've read this year are Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner (1926) and A View of the Harbour by Elizabeth Taylor (1947), which reads like a super-sharp sitcom before they were invented. Masterpieces both.
