My methods professor's classroom was her literal high school classroom. We would observe her during the day and then have class after the school day ends.

I do a branding project. Students learn about rhetoric, advertising techniques, writing for an authentic audience. Then we partner them up in groups with local businesses to create and pitch work. Genius Hour is another great example. Can share material. Scaled up and down grade levels.

Co-signing this. I'm a middle school teacher but my former students are coming to me for college essay feedback right now. The writing is getting better. Less kids read for pleasure now, which is sad. AI isn't a huge issue for me but that's down to the culture you create in your classroom.
