I have a copy of William’s Doll I was given when I was a kid. It’s about a little boy who does little boy things, but also wants to have a doll he can take care of.
Not quite the same thing as yours, but I’m still struck by what a subversive book it was to give that to a little boy in the eighties.

Neat to see these rendered, since they’re so hard to explain. I think mine are a little sharper-edged than what the shader shows, but could just be different eyes and brains.

I’m honored, but also jesus that’s a lot of money for books. At some point I’d start buying art books and early editions just to pad out the numbers.

Is that how you started? I’ve been thinking about trying it because my flexibility is shit, but I also get very into my head about doing things “correctly”. That’s put me off trying to learn from videos.
