Biggest reason was the cost compared to other commercially available DCC systems and the open source documentation of the project.

Haven’t started on the bench work yet, but I have started assembling kits for it. Currently building a GE 25 ton for a switching engine, which hangs around at the grain elevator right next door to the scrap yard on the prototype. Got a shell off shapeways and I’m using a Kati pocket line motor pack.

Oh man ain’t that awesome. I am currently building a switching layout in N scale based on this scrapyard.
