Loves TTRPGs (occasionally writes them - play "Writers In The Darkness" to see more) and horror. Currently writing one in a regency setting.

Often considers himself funny, but reliable sources inform me otherwise.

In a game I'm GMing all Elves are completely identical, so wear distinct masks for their entire lives. Being seen without one is unforgivable, as is modifying their body in anyway (as they believe they are all copies of the original elf god) - I think it made them feel like a more interesting race.

I was feeling a bit burnt out on traditional fantasy until I recently started playing Divinity 2 - I think a bit part for me was how weird and original they made elves (the cannibalism to relive memories was a big part of this)

Blades in the dark has a great map and very distinct feeling districts and areas on it (with the whole game feeling very tied to that physical location)

Have you tried looking on meetups? I found a couple of good games there a few years back before I fell in with my current groups

Really agree with this - particularly if they are in a setting where guns would be a bit alien (like fantasy) they should be this terrifying loud instrument of death!

Horrifying to see this and realise I've also been saying it wrong my entire life

Great to see this- very happy to see such a rise in women in what's traditionally been a pretty male dominated space!

This sounds great! As it seems like the majority of RPGs have the main way of interacting with the world being finding ways of enacting violence, love anything that encourages a more peaceful approach

In my current campaign, I did almost the complete opposite by making the map really inaccurate, as every user of the map has added their own (usually wrong) details. So some parts might as well be emptiness...

I think they are great if you already know the conventions of a RPG (so you can see what's interesting about the 1 pager, what rules it follows & breaks), but without this they can be confusing. The 1st TTRPG I saw was lasers & feelings & my reaction was "where is the game" & "how do you play this?"

Thank you for sharing that - very useful!
