It's a very cleverly designed collection of short stories interwoven and connected via a main storyline. It's a fantastic collection of stories. Some more than others. I'm especially into the one about Marilyn Monroe. I've fallen off with Chuck a bit, but he had some great ones.

I can't speak to the accuracy of a female experience it brings, but All Fours by Miranda July is my favorite book that I've read in recent years. I'm not even sure why, but it really spoke to me. I love her voice and perspective, and it inspired me to be braver in my own writing.

From my last book, Danny, available now
The world outside the window was a blur of lights and random movement. Cars and streetlamps came in and out of focus. Music meandered past her ears, seemingly at random. She caught bits of conversation in the car but couldn't make sense of any of it. She'd been drugged. She knew that much. The teenage one called Charlie poured blood in her mouth, from God knows where, and the blood was laced with something. LSD or some other hallucinogen. It had to have been. It was the only thing that explained what she was experiencing — the twisting and warping of her senses. The world seemed to be coming at her through a fish-eye lens underwater. The rag was back in her mouth, and her hands and ankles were bound with clear packing tape. She peeked over the edge of the door and saw out the window, but couldn’t make sense of the lights and sounds that invaded her perception. If she craned her neck, she could see the woman from the liquor store sitting next to her in the backseat. Lucy. Her name was Lucy. She laughed a lot, and looking at her made Danny uncomfortable, so instead, she watched the lights smear across the car window like melting crayons.

More Scout writing. I found a Scrivener file where I'd written a bunch of this story already and I'm finding some good stuff.
— 23 — Scout sits on the edge of the bed, looking at the wall. Her eyes move back and forth as music plays in her head. After a few minutes of this, she starts to hum, muttering words to herself. The song gathers in her mind like cotton candy on a paper cone until she finally picks up her guitar and works out the chords. The song is vaguely about Johnny, though she leaves out the most pertinent clues. She sprinkles in just enough truth to give The Scouts something to pick at, looking for answers.

The introduction of Deborah, one of my favorite characters
Deborah (not Debbie or Deb, ever) is my favorite among my friends, which is to say that Deborah was the one I could most easily tolerate. She’s older than I am by about ten years and has an incredible head of fiery red hair, and her freckled skin looks like it’s glowing when she’s out in the sun, which we frequently were. More often than not, when we’re together, we’re outside — usually by the pool or hiking on the trails, or swimming, or playing golf. Despite my anxiety, we actually were having a pretty good morning that Sunday. I arrived at the visitor center, parked, and started eating my snack for later: a couple of granola bars and a package of Animal Crackers. As I sat there waiting, I scanned the parking lot for Deborah’s black Dodge Challenger. I almost screamed when someone knocked on my passenger side window. I turned to see Deborah’s face peering in through the tinting. I opened my door and got out, stuffing my half-eaten bag of cookies into my bag. “Hey! Have you been here long?” I asked as I closed my door and came around the car to give Deborah a greeting hug. She shook her head. “No, I got here about three minutes ago and went pee in the visitor center. Now I’m here!” I’d been sitting in my car for at least fifteen minutes. I always show up early to anywhere I’m meeting someone. I’m far too paranoid about being late not to get there at least twenty minutes early. When Deborah hugged me, I could smell her hair, which had notes of strawberry and pomegranate. It’s what Deborah smelled like any time we hugged. She must use a scented shampoo or body spray. It’s a nice smell. I hoped I smelled good as well, though I suspected I smelled like the sweat I was already pouring just from my stress about this one-on-one outing. “You look really nice,” I said as we started walking towards the beginning of the trail. Deborah turned and looked at me, then smiled.

When he runs his fingers along her opening, she hisses softly. “No fingers,” She says, looking at the gray ceiling again as Johnny eats her out. She pulls her legs back, and he again runs his fingers along her slit and down to her ass. “I said no fingers.” Scout suddenly sits up and slides to the floor in front of Johnny, where she looks up at him. “Take it out,” She said. Johnny unbuckles his belt and opens the front of his jeans, his cock standing up at attention. Scout strokes it with her hand, looking up at him. Now it’s Johnny’s turn to look at the ceiling, unable to maintain eye contact with Scout. Her eyes had a clarity that frightened him. Scout takes him into her mouth, and he finishes almost immediately. Johnny sits back down on the bed, his hair sweaty and hanging in his face. He looks mildly confused and unsure of himself. Scout leans forward and kisses him on the mouth, giving his cum back to him.

The bathroom at The Patio was modern and very nice, featuring a predominantly dark wood design with silver accents. Luckily, it was empty when I went in, as near as I could tell. I entered the stall and hung my purse on the coat hook on the back of the door. I removed the plug and examined it more closely. It was heavy, stainless steel, and shaped like an anchor. It was obvious which end went where, as one side had a curved handle that was designed to rest between your cheeks. I had no experience with butt plugs personally, only what I’d seen on the internet and in sex shops, but I understood the concept.

I have two examples. The first is that my mom had copies of the two Hollywood Babylon books. One had a section about The Black Dahlia murder, which I read many times. It was completely inaccurate information, I later discovered.
