What a beautiful, masterful film Sinners is. I sat through the credits welling up at the sheer art of it. The beating heart of music at its core is the most delicious meal I’ve had at a cinema in years.

Dune: Prophecy is fantastic so far, but it's depressing to imagine we're seeing the start of Herbert's predicted backslide through fascism to feudalism (only no cool Holtzman engines or spice).
The idea that rich families will hold power for 10,000 years at a time rings pretty goddamn true though.

Amazing follow-up to this post from a couple days ago. @edrarts had a relative who was a gaffer on this very sun shot. Kubrick's brief was to set up a light to look like the sun, only perfectly circular to match Hal's inner eye. So @icarusburning was right!! thepestlepodcast.com/2001aspaceod...
