Interesting visitor in Irish waters at the moment: Valentin Pikul, Russia's new Arctic-capable tanker. The vessel was sanctioned by the US on January 10, three weeks before it was delivered to its owner Rosneft. It's currently heading north, about 70 miles off the Kerry coast.

I recently wrote about use of Cellebrite phone-cracking tech by gardaí, Cellebrite's links to Israel's military, and its use by states that violate human rights. Eitay Mack, an Israeli lawyer, has now written to Cellebrite & Israel's MOD to cease selling to Georgia.

There are ongoing efforts to compare the death toll in Gaza to Ukraine, usually as an attempt to downplay atrocities in Ukraine. As per UN, we don't know what the actual civilian toll is in Ukraine. What we do know is that Russia, like Israel and Hamas, has committed serious war crimes.
