General Manager of Ackroyd’s Bakery. Occasional Grill Daddy at Dakota Inn Rathskeller. Fascinated by learning more & more about less & less.
The Detroit area has a bunch of slider joints. Places w/ simple menus focused on sliders, fries, milkshakes, etc. Telway is near the top of the list for quality & ambiance. I love the American cheese on their chili cheese fries. The heat of the fries and chili work together to melt the cheese.

A new burger place called Bun ‘N’ Run opened near me recently. Simple menu (burgers, fries, milkshakes). Excellent execution. Glad to have an affordable locally owned place like this near me. Price of double cheeseburger combo is less than most fast food places.

I’m convinced that once you have a favorite glass, beverages taste better out of that glass.

When the weather is cold, mapo tofu is the best thing to warm you up. It’s savory, spicy, and the tingling Sichuan peppercorn is a delight

I baked a bread pudding but instead of bread, I used apple fritters.

One of the upsetting things about growing up in a toxic family structure is the constant feeling of paranoia. Not sure who was trying to reach me at 6:40 this morning, but I was not trying to find out. Posting this at all FEELS paranoid but I know I’m not alone.

“Platter for 4,” at Boff’s Mixed Grill in Centerline, MI. It’s enough for 8-10. Not pictured: fattoush, hummus, toum (whipped garlic), & crushed lentil soup. The quality of the food is eclipsed only by the genuine hospitality of Jay, the owner.

Back in August, my son broke both of his arms. He’s healed now, but we’re still receiving medical bills. We’ve paid over $10k out of pocket & we have insurance. My partner just received a $700 bill for a breast exam. I can’t schedule a well visit with my doctor until February. Great system we have.

This article meanders around the obvious point - FUND PROGRAMS PROPERLY. Whether it is universal childcare or paying parents to stay home, or shifting to working from home if possible, the amount of money put towards these programs needs to be consistent & enough. High quality care needs funding.

Happy 7 year anniversary to this brilliant idea. Haven’t ordered it since so my weekend plans are made.

Working as the social media manager for Luchaboom for Dia de los Muertos this past weekend. Matches were great & the crowd was energetic. Got to take photos with some wrestlers, too.

In honor of National Sandwich Day, the Pastrami Reuben from Oak Parker in Oak Park, MI. An excellent sandwich from a consistently great restaurant. They make their pastrami in house. I adore the thick slices.

Always on the search for fantastic falafel and kibbeh. Boff’s Mixed Grill in Warren is especially delicious with incredible service too.

Not sure where all of the emotion policing came from but it’s not ideal to tell anyone how they should feel about anything, especially when your lived experience seems to only include life through the lens of the Reagan administration.

On the topic of work involved in food manufacturing, here’s a short video of our beef & onion sausage rolls. The video doesn’t show that we make, roll, & cut the puff pastry (with a dough sheeter), mix the meat mixture, etc.

Loui’s Pizza is a metro Detroit institution. Their Detroit style pizza is among the best around, but their entire menu is fantastic. The Loui’s Special is especially unique. It’s a steak filled grilled cheese with a special sauce that is BBQ sauce adjacent - spicy, sweet, & savory.

I grew up eating Middle Eastern food. My father owned a Middle Eastern deli so I had an opinion on how certain dishes *should* taste because I was tasting all of the time. Once I started going to other places, I was thrilled to learn how much variation each dish could have.

I’ve spent the last few weeks working at the historic Dakota Inn in Detroit for their Oktoberfest celebrations. It’s been a really incredible experience. Dakota Inn is one of the city’s most unique establishments.

Not Just Noodle in Madison Heights is consistently excellent and rarely ever very busy. I had this Mapo Tofu rice bowl tonight and was pleasantly surprised at its savory spiciness. Lovely place with fantastic service.

Went to Supergeil in Detroit last night. I consider it one of the most slept on restaurants in the city. The food is consistently excellent as are the drinks. Their version of kibbeh was phenomenal last night.

I’m not Kevin and I don’t drink Mondavi wine. I do wonder where this scam would’ve gone.

I don’t care to compare specific restaurants with one another to figure out what’s “best,” because that’s subjective, but I do love trying each restaurant’s versions of particular dishes. For Indian restaurants, my go to dishes are samosa chaat, chicken 65, and dal tadka. Do you have go to dishes?
