OK, this is long, but not only does the guy who coined the term enshittification explain it, he gives actionable ideas about personal and policy choices. pluralistic.net/2025/02/26/u...

I write from about 8 am until somewhere between noon and 2 pm. It gets broken up by things like making coffee and stretching, but it's pretty steady. No email or social media until I'm done. A fair number of searches for info, however. #pretendpanel

Sports/wrestling showing up on Netflix, Max, etc., proves one of my truisms: capitalist enterprises must now to expand into every niche and fill it with options like some kind of fractal fungus to be successful. The line must always trend up until...?

Tried the mushroom cutlets I kept seeing at the store. Used a steak rub and smothered it in mushrooms and onions. It was soft, more like pulled pork, but yummy. #vegan #veganfood

Headache has abated, so it's time to sign off and knock the edges off what I wrote yesterday. My first drafts make me wince, which is a bridge too far when the brain pan is feeling fragile. #writing #writingcommunity

Used a mosturizing eye mask because it's so dry in the house. So, what to do for 8-10 minutes when I can't see? I visualized the next scene in my WIP. So now all I've got to do is write it. Easy, peasy, right? (Cue evil laugh somewhere behind me.) #writers #writing #writingcommunity

Seeing a lot of No! Windows 11! talk today. That giant sucking sound you hear is an ecosystem of never-ending payments to MS, Apple, etc. Escape to Linux.

George Carlin on the Reagan administration, just as a reminder that what we're seeing isn't new, it's a matter of degree. It's George Carlin from the '80s, so be forewarned. youtu.be/og9DV0Si8bs?...

Trying pen and paper again. I've started another WIP, and the sentences seem better when I write that way, but I can't keep it up very long. Might be another decreasing attention span issue.

After reading the excellent publishing roundup by @craicer.bsky.social and a few of the links, I feel like there should be a mandatory warning label on AI-generated content. Then I felt like a dairy-industry PR hack who wants to stop people from using "milk" on plant-based milks.
