Sometimes it’s clearly a ‘’me” problem. I wish something would just click and I could enjoy it like everyone else. More difficult when I’m kind of meh on something (wondering why I don’t “get it” and feel I’m missing out) rather than when I hate something (wondering why everyone else is so wrong!)

How do you think it compares with Midnights and Tortured Poets?

Hi Mark, I'm the advisor for an LGBTQ club for middle school-age students. What's a 20th century a piece of LGBTQ culture I should share with them?

In early 2006 I was in very small NYC record shop with only one other customer: Martin Freeman. I knew I recognized him and asked if he was an actor and we talked for a bit. My vibe was that he’s a kind guy. I mostly let him be, but on his way out he tapped me on the shoulder and said “Cheers mate.”

Have you soured a bit on Boyhood? If I remember correctly it was your #1 for the 2010s.

I, for one, think Kat should forgo technology all together and buy herself a soap box to stand on. If she yells loudly enough, someone's bound to toss her a few bucks.

I'm a middle school teacher and I have my 7th graders watch and analyze it every year. Many of them fall in love with the show because of it.

What are your top 10 records ever, no rules and whatnot?
February 17, 2025 at 7:18 PM
Even looking at the Billboard Hot 100, you can see how stagnant things are for weeks or months at a time. But the box office or what’s hot on tv changes much more often.

I’m sure there’s great new records every week, but I don’t think there’s enough interest out there to discover new music at that week to week level whereas lots of folks might randomly check out a new movie or new tv show each week.

They used to have a music podcast that covered new music week to week, but I wonder if there’s just not enough interest at a week to week level/not enough to cover to keep something like that going. Even most avid music listeners probably only listen to 10 or 15 new records a year.
