As a result of the reduction in the maximum tax rates, here is the impact it’s had on the national debt. So rather than raise taxes on the high income wage earners, this administration feels it would be more efficient to cut government services and social safety nets.

Attached is a graphic that shows how tax policy has changed over the last 40 years. What it shows in the gray background is the max tax rate and the magenta line shows the median tax rate. One trend is declining, the other is flat. Guess who’s benefiting?

Indeed a hero, and perhaps a message to the churches who preach the rhetoric of new president…

I’m trying to do my part, now serving on my county planning and zoning board. When opportunity is there, I hope to discuss the public policy and how it impacts our community.

With this basic demographic information, the question I have, and want to answer is. Why are my neighbors voting Red when policies like lowering taxes on high income earners, and cutting entitlements and social safety nets would negatively impact them?
January 4, 2025 at 5:10 AM
A little about my community. I live in a rural Iowa county, less than 6,000 residents. As a county, ~1 in 3 did vote blue, and ~75% of voting age voted in this past election. Our median household income is just above $54,000 a year and 11.8% of our population is below the poverty line.

To make meaningful change, it’s important for all of us to express our opinions to our elected representatives both, state and federal. I believe, if we all do a little, we can get our government governing in a way that benefits us collectively as a nation and citizens of our shared planet.

In the coming days, weeks and months, I’m going to post what ‘I’m’ doing to make a difference in my community. I will also solicit feedback on my approach. I want to hear what you’re doing in your communities to educate your neighbors on how public policy impacts our communities.

To say I was disappointed with the outcome of the 2024 presidential election is an understatement. Since then I’ve been reading a lot of posts about how ‘we’ collectively must stop the agenda of the incoming administration.
