#woodworker #woodworking made a little side table with some scrap wood from the community workshop. Finish is shellac all over then wire wooled then wax paste on table top and Danish Oil on the rest of the table.

#woodworker #woodworkingshops This is the box that I am still working on. Cut the top off with a bandsaw, glued in some silver birch bark from my garden and lined the bottom with purple felt (the colour of Scottish thistles!). This one will be going to my mum in Scotland. Almost finished.

#woodworker #woodworkshop Next stage of my current box. Trimmed the splin splines, sanded with 600, 1000 and 1200 grit then wiped on a small amount of shellac.

I am working on my newest box. The splines are maple. The sides are sapele and the top is poplar. I do have the idea of creating an inset disc veneered with silver birch bark. Just picked up some bark on a walk and have it soaking in warm water. Maybe I could drink the “tea” as well🤓? Laxative

The next use of my spalted maple self sliced veneer! I was thinking about half filling the top with clear epoxy. What do you think? I have no experience with epoxy.

#woodworking I created a spalted maple veneer by slicing up the small block that I posted a photo of previously and mounted the slices on cheap Home Depot poplar. For the lid I splashed out on walnut. The box still needs to be finished with shellac and wax. It is a surprise present for a friend!

I made this with scrap wood. The purple circle in the corner is for the foot of a small bowl or glass to go and the board is for cheese, salami, grapes, etc while watching the telly…

#woodworking #woodworker #woodshop It has been a while since I posted. I have been busy making boxes and here is my newest one which I quite like! Sealed it with a quick wipe on of shellac, lightly wire wooled it then put on some finishing wax. Needs a polish!

#woodworking #joinery My newest box. I have gone a wee bit crazy with the splines! The lid is going to look very interesting with splines running through it vertically🤓🥸. Clearly this box is not finished yet although it might look good to have a box where bits stick out!!
