Nice morning at #Ainsdale Beach today.
Sunrise over grassy back dunes at Ainsdale Beach. The sky is on the left is blue, with the lighter clouds in the centre appearing in tones of orange/yellow. The far right clouds are grey...3 minutes later, I discovered they were full of hail! Empty beach at dawn. The tide is out. On the right the sky is blue, but becoming more dark with rain clouds on the left. The damp sand beyond the strand line is partly reflecting the shadows cast by the clouds. Ainsdale beach at dawn. The tide is out. Large cumulonimbus clouds are partly illuminated by the sun. The wet beach beyond the strand line reflects the sky.

Happy Christmas Southport. Nice to see our friends the Bear and Reindeer are back in town.

Took a trip on the bus to Ainsdale woods today...

Sadly, there were a few balloon carcasses and sanitary products on the foreshore today. Please don't release balloons, and don't flush sanitary products as far too often this is where they end up. And a special wall out to United Utilities PLC: please stop the raw sewage discharges. Ta.

Ainsdale beach was a bit moody this morning. Cloudy overhead, but blue sky on the western horizon. #Nature

Though overcast, Ainsdale beach was its own dear self this morning. A tonic for the soul at the start of another day.

With all the heartbreaking things happening in my hometown of Southport, I thought I'd remind folks why it's still a great place to live and to visit. This morning, Ainsdale Beach was perfect serenity..."If you like sand dunes and salty air" and all that!

The geese were roosting, so no beach today. The back marsh and dunes were an excellent substitute. Unmistakably autumn: the smell of fermenting buckthorn berries, the sound of pink footed geese off to forage, watery sunrise, and a few harebells hanging on in a sheltered spot. Best bit of the day!
