We (boomers) have adult children we are very close to. Same with many of our friends. I have always adored my children even while butting heads on occasion. Folks I know who don’t have good relations are typically distant or domineering assholes. You don’t need to go deeper than that.

Please note the Anglican Church in America is the the Episcopal Church. It is a very conservative breakaway group that found the Episcopal Church too liberal, meaning they reject the social gospel approach and ordaining women and LGBTQ members.

What they know are cherry picked passages and even then misinterpretations. I have friends who are biblical scholars. Understanding the translation of a passage much less the cultural and historical context is hardly straightforward.

Mom and dad’s care was all immigrants. Treated like royalty by staff. Never worried and my mom was bedridden for 4 years with dementia. Not one bed sore.

Twitter is the sewage system of the internet. Maybe it’s important to give emotional effluvium a discharge system. Doesn’t mean I have to climb down there and wallow in it.

I didn’t vote for the M-F’er but still, as a citizen, I expect elected officials to do their job even if I oppose their policies. No way is he cognizant and actually making decisions, which means our country is being run by a loose affiliation of unelected officials. This is wrong.

My parents were in a continuing care retirement community their last 10 years. Nearly all the health care workers, including doctors, were immigrants. The care was top notch and their attitudes totally respectful and engaged. I never worried about the treatment. Tremendous gratitude towards staff.

Did 30+ flights DC to Asia. The United Gold Card was a lifesaver, especially since I did coach to save on expenses for firm fixed price contracts (was in consulting). Could have done b-class but savings went for more analyst time on projects instead of my aching back. LOL.

Usually not a good sign when a ship is taking on water and the captain says, “All is fine. Go back to your cabins.”

Love how the guys with no social skills, no self-awareness, and no empathy feel qualified to restructure our society. What could go wrong?

It’s called rent seeking. Look it up. It’s using the government to change rules so you benefit and others lose thus avoiding competition and reducing chances of better products/ services. Most corporate lobbying is rent seeking and has profoundly distorted markets to the point of little competition.

Saw an article on Substack noting that extreme gerrymandering happened regularly between Civil War and 1900. Problem is you spread your likely voters more thinly across a state. People sour on your party, can get huge flips which is what happened regularly. Be careful what you wish for.

Getting tired of grandpa prattling on about something he did in 1947. Can someone please wheel him out?

Our Forefathers built this nation using … the forced labor of the enslaved and the exploitation of immigrants … reads better now.

Damn that Joe Biden! Pretty sure he’s the reason we had serious plumbing issues last January before Trump was sworn in. Damn that Joe Biden!

This is awful. Used to go to HK for business. I’d see these 20-30 story apt bldgs going up and realize the scaffolding was bamboo poles all the way up. Notice them in the video.

Serious question: if quantum computing were at a mature stage, would we need these massive data centers for AI. My understanding is AI uses traditional binary languages and quantum is very different and could be more efficient.

They are the most corrupt but as for debased, they are in competition with the Taney court of the 1850s that rendered the Dred Scott case, saying those of African descent were property.

I graduated from college 50 years ago. A friends 1st job was a 2 year assignment with the US Mint interviewing business people around the country about elimination of the penny. US Govt wanted it back then but too many people balked.

As a man with 45 years in professional environments, I can say this: women normalized the work place since men had to stop being drunk frat boys. I would never want to go back to the workplace of the 70s-80s-90s where bosses screamed all the time and humiliating subordinates indicated toughness.

What I find weird is this. My grandmother, born in 1896, was hardcore, fundamentalist Southern Baptist. Back then they did not believe in mixing politics and religion since anything of this world would corrupt the church. Falwell & Co. started mixing it up and indeed the church became corrupt.

Finance specialists have looked at the level of loans needed (more than available investment capital) and the required ROI needed (within 5 years 2 trillion in revenue). Will never happen. Substack has in depth articles on it. Excellent reads.
