I’d have happily kept my maiden name but he had stronger feelings on it and it does make a lot of things easier to be in same name. I clung onto it at work until I changed jobs. I think you’d have less explaining to do if you had different names now.

I don’t think it’s so common now but was often for girls, also grandmother’s maiden name can be used. I do know people who’ve used the mother’s maiden name for a first name when it works as a first name.

I think it was very common across both, I have an English one and a Scottish one across my extended family both born 1930s. The English one was known by her middle name though

I had one,it was a long time ago and you’re supposed to practice but baby was early so I hadn’t. It didn’t seem to be doing much. It’s no epidural anyway.
