Texas Congressman. Democrat. Born, raised and represent San Antonio.

Intelligence Committee (HPSCI) + Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC).
There are serious questions surrounding the ICE raid in San Antonio.

Teenagers—even a baby—were caught up in the chaotic scene. There needs to be accountability and transparency.

I am demanding answers from ICE and other agencies, alongside @repcasar.bsky.social

Jonathan Pollard is a convicted traitor who provided highly sensitive national security information to the Israeli government. He did grave harm to our country.

It’s unacceptable that Ambassador Huckabee secretly met with Mr. Pollard, a convicted traitor, at the United States Embassy.

Gov. Abbott and Trump’s illegal redistricting plot backfired. It set off a national movement to level the playing field. And yesterday, the courts struck down their illegal maps.

But this should have never happened. Americans deserve fair and equal representation.

Today, the House passed legislation that takes us one step closer to releasing the Epstein files.

This is not about political gains. This is about the truth.

Republicans have been MIA for 6 weeks, refusing to extend healthcare subsidies. Now countless Texans won't be able to pay for skyrocketing premiums.

I’ll keep fighting because affordable healthcare is a worthy cause.

Republicans refuse to lower healthcare costs. Older Texans that are too young for Medicare will be hit the hardest.

Theresa Hebert is one of the more than 3 million Texans who rely on healthcare subsidies. Without ACA tax credits, her premium will cost $1,000/month.

I was honored to present U.S. Army Specialist Alfredo Gutierrez with the Purple Heart and six other distinguished military service medals for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War. On behalf of a grateful nation, thank you for your sacrifice and service.

Veterans day is around the corner. My district office joined Project MEND’s Salute to Our Veterans celebration and shared with the community ways our office can be helpful.

If you are a veteran and need help accessing the care and benefits you’ve earned, call our office at 210-348-8216.

In San Antonio, I met with faith leaders Father David Garcia, Luis Martinez, Dustin Martin, and Sister Constanza Fernandez. Thank you for your leadership in our community and w/ @catholicrelief.bsky.social to address hunger around the world. Your work reminds us of the importance of serving others.

During my time in Congress, I have had the honor of calling Nancy Pelosi a friend and colleague, where I have seen her vision and perseverance firsthand. I am grateful for her work to fight for Dreamers and to create a pathway to citizenship. She has a made a profound contribution to our nation.

Governor Abbott cares more about helping ICE than he does helping Texas families keep food on the table.
November 3, 2025 at 10:44 PM
Republicans are ripping away ACA premium tax credits, causing healthcare costs to soar by 35% in Texas on average.

Just look the premium rates for 2026 compared to last year. Many families won’t be able to afford it!

Republicans need to reopen the government and work with Democrats to lower costs.

I am proud to celebrate COPS/Metro, which for 50 years has shaped life in San Antonio for the better.

COPS/Metro continues to bring together people of conscience to call out ICE for its brutality and lawlessness, stand up for our community, and protect due process and the rule of law.

Can Sec. Noem look at Goerge Retes, Lenardo Vanegas, and 170+ U.S. citizens in the eye and lie to their face?

We’ve read the reports, heard the stories, and seen the videos. Americans citizens, including children, are being illegally detained.

This is the racial profiling dragnet we warned about.

Governor Greg Abbott needs to use the state's $24 billion rainy day fund to make up for lost SNAP benefits. Or he's turning his back on 3.5 million Texans.

And Attorney General Ken Paxton needs to join the 25 other states suing the USDA for illegally withholding SNAP funding.

Trump's former State Department Legal Adviser even confirmed that gang activity isn't the basis for a new, unauthorized war—it's a law enforcement matter.

The Trump Admin is justifying its strikes in the Caribbean and off the coast of Mexico through a secret memo it won't share with the Congress or the American people because we know it’s a hastily slapped-together defense of blatantly illegal strikes.

Republicans are weaponizing hunger. It’s wrong. We need to restore SNAP.
October 30, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Today I visited the food pantry at Inner City Development in San Antonio, which is doing incredible work.

But in Washington, Donald Trump is holding SNAP benefits hostage. He had the authority to keep 3.5 million Texans fed and chose not to.

Congress is responsible for setting tariffs. See the Constitution.

But Speaker Johnson has surrendered Congress’ power to Trump. He changed the rules to prevent votes in the House on tariffs—a tax on families—because he knows even Republicans don’t like Trump’s costly trade policy.
October 29, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Donald Trump left the country.

His press secretary says his main focus is tearing down the White to build a ballroom.

Meanwhile, Congressional Republicans refuse to reopen the government.

So 42 million people are about to lose SNAP benefits that keep food on the table.
