Living my weirdest life: suburban mom in a modern family. Loves bright colors, practical conveniences, live theater, curiosity, and being a decent human being. Once gently convinced an online stranger to change their mind with facts.
Which is certainly plausible and also extremely predictable, so why bring up the helicopter in the first place? Security theater is the most charitable reading I can manage right now.

I met several nerd celebrities on the 2017 JoCo Cruise (all lovely), and have several delightful anecdotes, but the one who stands out in my mind as “nicest” is probably Wil Wheaton who told me he really liked my cool hair.

Depends entirely on what one means by “polycule” because there’s a universe of difference between a closed triad and “the chart of everyone we’re occasionally banging plus all the exes” and Gritty would definitely do the second one

“Go to an old cemetery.
See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone.”

In America, the prevailing attitude is "We would rather fail to help *everyone* deserving than ever accidentally help even *one* person undeserving." Whereas decent people don't mind helping someone who *doesn't* "deserve" or need it if it means they can help those who *do*.
