Looking down from a window in Venice at the a canal and the doorway in the wall opposite. The red brick wall has an iron gate at canal level that is partially submerged in water. The gate is ajar. The water is still and green, and a white stone step can be seen below the surface.

A grey wooden door with elaborate, curling iron work straps, set into weathered red stone archway. The top of the arch has alternating blocks of red and white stone. Once ornately carved, the stone is heavily weathered and smooth.

A bright red doorway in a rustic stone wall. The doorway has two doors, one of which is open to reveal worn floorboards and a dark interior. The red paint on the door is scratched and worn, revealing an underlying layer of white paint.

Finished the conservation and mounting of a Spencer jacket from the McManus Museum, Dundee. An unfinished project from one of last years graduates. Keeping my skills fresh while teaching.
A short silk jacket in olive green with a standing collar and long ruched sleeves. Trimmed with bands of cream silk at the cuff and narrow green cord at the bottom edge and front opening. Circa 1810.

Doing what I do. Supporting the cuff of a Spencer while supervising student work via the eyes in the back of my head.
The cuff of an early 19th century Spencer jacket of dark green silk trimmed with a band of white silk and twisted green cord. Over the top of the cuff is a layer of custom dyed silk crepeline held in place with insect pins. A hand holds a tacking thread and a curved needle.
