This strong collection by @jidesalawu.bsky.social arrived in my life today. If you haven’t read Jide’s work yet, I encourage you to dive in! He writes of migration, the leaving and the waiting and the loss. He writes of a broken and exploited homeland, one that sings through him onto the page.

Ah-Neets-Naas sharing the terrible/terrifying truths he endured at residential school & chasing these with, “So that’s TRUTH. But telling this truth has never made life better. Because who cares? Who really cares? So—reconciliation? Tell me what that means & how it will change our lives!”

Nothing like an afternoon of autumn gardening to remember all the details you intended to include in the morning’s writing, but forgot.

Two nets. Must be autumn because until now there was only one here…

Lovely bike ride to Yaaqsis, (Long Beach) today. Such soft coastal light. Swooping through the forested path on the bike is my current fave gateway to lateral thinking and #writing related ideas.

I’ve spent this month reading and re-reading the poems in @lornedaniel.bsky.social’s collection, What is Broken Binds Us, University of Calgary Press.
His words lure you into poems that are urgent and moving, courageous and unexpected.
Congratulations Lorne! This is one for the Special Shelf.

I love these wild carrots the most when they still have that hint of pink, before they are fully open.
