Only 5 studies in the Henssler AD withdrawal review (not 18 as claimed) used a relevant measure of withdrawal. These find 55% of people reported withdrawal symptoms after stopping antidepressant 3/n

I believe some people get net benefit from taking long-term antipsychotics, but we need to recognise that the costs of this are high. 7/7

The chemical imbalance theory of depression is fundamental to how we think about depression and emotions now. It is the basis for the idea that they can be treated by drugs (e.g. antidepressants). But it is not supported by evidence, as people had been led to believe.
