As someone who has watch (and enjoyed) so much of your popular culture from Australia, as well as visiting a few times, I always found US consumerism and glorification of the rich and famous overwhelming and unsettling. I found this insight below very interesting.

This!!! They need to keep their audience in mind and it has to appeal to the every level of education, or lack there of. They are talking over a lot of people‘s heads and need to speak in Layman’s terms.
