Let's be clear--the distances passengers must walk at many airports are literally miles. Any sort of injury or condition can make travel impossible without wheelchair use. So go ahead and board early. Walk off the plane on your own if you can. People like me, thankfully able bodied, can wait.

I honestly half expected something like this at customs when returning to the U.S. in September. When I'd left, there were unidentified men with badges--not airline personnel--checking everyone's IDs in the boarding line at the gate. I'd never seen this before; there was no explanation.

Loved the story on Nov 4 that KY Secretary of State had to issue a statement responding to complaints that polling places were closed. “There is no election in KY today.” I pictured hordes of people hungry to vote against Trumpism & feeling shut out.
