This is simply where I record my thoughts on Buddhist and Zen training and practice.
The Case:
A monk asked Joshu, "Has the dog Buddha-Nature or not?" Joshu replied, “Mu!”

My poem goes:
Asking the question leads to hell;
Not asking impedes the path to liberation.
Pointing to the dog, the monk put the entire universe at risk;
But Joshu cut out the monk’s tongue, averting disaster.

I've been asked why we sit zazen. My answer is that we sit zazen because it is the most fundamental expression of our True Nature. That this explanation sounds almost trite should not belie the richness of the practice from which it arises.

Words are born of discrimination,
Mere shadows of illusion.
Metaphors only take you so far;
Images veil the Truth.
Beware!
