No one has ever said "I have a theory that says that one of these two groups will be stochastically dominant over the other."

The problem I have with Mann-Whitney tests (as has been pointed out) is that they are not a test of medians. When people propose them, I ask what null hypothesis they are testing, if they're not testing medians. I don't think anyone has told me. It is a test of stochastic dominance.
