Huge economic and social inequalities inherently generate inequality in political voice. You can't manage the political inequality without addressing the economic and social inequality.

We've also seen dramatic confirmation of a key point: billionaires' political power is not confined to channels that are easy to regulate. We can't bring them toward political equality by passing campaign finance laws when they can purchase newspapers and social media sites.

One pattern that has changed in interesting ways is that we found liberal-aligned billionaires more willing to speak about politics. This year, that has apparently been less the case, as we've seen liberal-aligned folks shut down speech to lower their profile to some extent.

This year, conservative-aligned billionaires have spent huge amounts supporting Trump: he's had about a 4-to-1 advantage in billionaire spending, as far as the public knows.
