I mean how stores have policies on in app purchases, revenue splits, in app ads, etc that are designed to maximize profit for the store owner. This is why F2P exists, because there’s more money to be made with free apps with ads than with one time purchases that require a parent’s credit card.

I think there’s more to write about how digital storefronts shape the content that is put on those stores in the first place. Digital storefronts play kingmaker based on which apps they think will make them more money. Also, I had not considered the share button being lost to higher API prices, ty!

They like the aesthetics of critical analysis but not the analysis itself. For most games made today, the only valid analysis is “the publisher made them do it that way to make more money”. I don’t think the same could be said for non kitsch art like a classic novel or painting, or good movies
