I have been suggesting as much to our clients - given the AI tools these days, it's a cheaper cost to bring someone in than try to fire them later. Many tech departments are so geographically disbursed that it's a logistical effort to get this practice restarted.

I consider it ridiculous that more people aren't pushing back on this. This is the most flagrant constitutional overreach as I've seen since the Patriot Act, and probably worse given there's no real congressional authority to do this.

Whether media should be public is separate, but I think it's notable how well NPR has aligned to the public good with a non profit charter and leadership that aligns to that. NPR has the same profit struggles as them but is navigating the new spin area much more adriotly /fin
