Author of future fiction, artist, teacher, queer, and trying my best to make this dystopia a utopia, one kind word at a time.
I just finished Winter after a whirlwind month of reading The Lunar Chronicles. Marissa Meyer is a dang genius and I'm going to miss the Rampion Crew so much!

Ms. Cobel over here just huffing and inventing stuff.

Haha. Are they, though? This is the image that comes to my mind. 🫣

Four books that make up my #booksdna -- the source of my foundational, load bearing personality traits. I am *really* showing my age here, but these children's books had some serious influence over who I turned out to be.

Just finished the wildly dark ride that is Mexican Gothic. A little Yellow Wallpaper mixed w/ Jane Eyre mixed with full on horror, it's a slow burn that is at once repulsive and addictive. Loved it!

Another NYC Midnight #shortstorychallenge in the books. With political satire, a sculptor, and a surprise, I think I got off easy. Hopefully they find dark satire acceptable, though, because I just can't our politics funny right now.

Finished We Deserve Monuments, & what a read! I will be singing its praises from the rooftops. The writing style is gorgeous, making it a page turner. It's race relations in the south, multi-generational relationships, grief, first loves & queer identity, plus a murder mystery!

It's NYC Midnight #shortstorychallenge day, but I'm also itching to finish wood burning this little guy. Looks like Saturday is going to be all about the arts. :)

I'm choosing to see MLK Day falling on this dark day as a reminder that we will always fight against the darkness, and that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

In that spirit, I will be spending the day offline, reading this wonderful book by Jas Hammonds.

I'm an avid bookworm and love being a writer, but I spend an equal amount of time as a pyrographer. What types of art do you all do on the side? Show me pics! :)

Oh, this book was torture to read in the best way. A satirical poke at Americans' tendency to put their heads in the sand and ignore reality, particularly when it means they get rich. Punchy, quick, and inventive. Plus, aliens!

Went to an adult pj party with the girls (10/10 recommend, btw) and watched this absolute madness. Have you seen it?? Thoughts? I need to gush with someone.😍

People argue that to create real gut-wrenching storytelling, you have to let your characters suffer. I think the 80's and 90's had that technique on lockdown. Which moment broke your heart the most?

Third book for January is Invisible Things! A dark comedy sci-fi satire that critiques America through an alien abduction story. Pretty rad! What are you all reading right now?

Just finished The Mercy of Gods!
James S.A. Corey did not disappoint with this wildly inventive sci-fi. Moral questions, twists, and complicated relationships abound in this new trilogy by the writers of The Expanse. All the stars! Have you read it? What did you think?
