For "FuriusFriday": A silver denarius of Marcus Furius Lucii filius Philus struck circ 119 B.C.. The obverse of this coin features the Roman god Janus. The reverse, a trophy surrounded by Gallic shields and carnyces, likely alluding to victory vs Allobroges and Arveni in 121 B.C.

For WreathWednesday a denarius minted by Faustus Cornelius Sulla, son of the dictator Sulla, 56BC. The small wreaths represent Pompey's triumphs, the large his Corona Aurea awarded 63BC, aplustre his position of Cura Annonae in 57 and globe the "known-world wide" scope of victories

Another recent pickup: P Clodius M F Turrinus, 42 BC. Apollo/Diana Lucifera. Well provenanced to J Schulman, Amsterdam, auction 233, March 1960. As is often the case, no provenance noted by dealer but found during pre purchase diligence and research.

Purchased from a friend this week, a type I've wanted for many years: a beautifully toned denarius of L Lucretius Trio struck circa 74 BC. Neptune/Winged boy (perhaps Cupid or Palaemon) riding a dolphin.
