I suspect the are spread out across many buildings which may be why they were considering the new high rise back in 2009.

The Wikipedia article is shameless developer propaganda 😝 Lucky for them that the building was not built given Boston’s high commercial vacancy rate. I walk through its substitute, Winthrop Place daily. Winthrop place creates nice street level public spaces but seems to be substantially unoccupied.

I agree that there’s something disappointing about Renzo Piano’s addition. A very tough Comission to expand such an iconic building but the addition is all about the architect and reflects nothing about the Gardner. Starchitects are often too big to defer to existing conditions and context.

Same. My high school humanities class went to the Gardner in 1980 after discussing Rembrandt’s amazing Storm on the Sea of Galilee in class. It’s sad to see the painting’s frame on display, empty, since the 1990 heist.

I have a paid BBC podcasts account which has a limited amount of BBC sounds content but BBC Sounds app is no longer available outside the UK :-) I’d gladly pay to access BBC sounds again or tolerate advertisements if necessary.
