Happened to me at work, where I was presented with "evidence" that something could be changed about a technology that I support. Said evidence conflated 3 different applications into one answer. I had to spend time debunking it because people hate being told no.

In this case, it is a list of things "people" said about the President's evaluation of Rubio, used to prove them wrong/short-sighted. The construct mirrors other situations where Nixon was proved right after the fact despite nay-sayers.

So many are very willing to downplay the victory - is that "don't get your hopes up" (foolish in the current climate) or "he wasn't my guy, so it wasn't impressive"?
