It gets better - it's definitely un-metroid like, but it has some really cool moments

It's crazy - last time I really thought about it was around '98, and I think slackware was the only thing I was aware of.

I'm just gonna put my home partition on a separate drive, try Manjaro, and then go distro hopping if it doesn't work out.

Tiling WMs are intriguing, but I'm not sure if they're for me or not. How does i3 handle dialogs and other things like that? My plan is to start with kde, and I can always add some tiling kwin scripts to see how it works for me.

Yeah, I've been following it for a while - the latest releases are looking really good. Been looking at Adobe alternatives for a long time (mostly Photoshop, I've pretty much moved away from the other products), and Krita seems the closest to matching my Photoshop workflow

I'm planning not to dual boot, since that would defeat the purpose of my move. I'm sure I won't miss anything from Windows itself, but I'm less sure about the move from Photoshop to Krita - it seems very capable, but I've been using Photoshop for 30 years, and it will definitely be an "adjustment".

Thanks, I have a lot of experience with Linux on the server side, so I'm worried atomic distros may be too limiting, although I definitely see the appeal. Gonna try Manjaro first, cause straight Arch seems like too much to deal with for my first go 🙂

I've happily been using windows for at least that long, but I feel I have no choice but to move to Linux. I'm mostly sad about it, but what can I do? Same situation with all the Adobe apps
