While the Seattle-Bellevue metro area is very expensive and congested, there are more affordable places accessible by bus, train, or ferry. We moved to Bremerton last year. My husband takes a 30 minute fast ferry to downtown Seattle. You can get a 2 bed house for $250-300K and rent starts around $1K
