Haha, I know, exactly my experience wrt vision (esp. VS) and reading difficulties - many professionals (vision & others) in Aus are not only desperately prejudiced/ignorant but also aggressively confident & dismissive. The idea that science should be open-minded seems to be beyond them!

VS might be worth investigating - some studies have shown it's a problem in cases of stroke - and you could be right about it being a factor in susceptibilty to text crowding. It would be interesting to see whether tinted lenses that alleviate visual stress also help with other visual difficulties.

In your experience, do people with dementia experience increased visual sensitivity, for example to overall illuminance (photophobia) and/or to high contrast patterns (visual stress)?
