As someone else put it "you don't leave the office, the office leaves you". He can fortify a bunker in the new ballroom, but legally he won't be president past the end of his term. And the actual president will have the authority in the executive branch.

Assaulting Congress, though? Likely.

... of course they collapsed.

As bad as the early aughts were, it seems like we have half the US economy tied up in one of those incubators, NVIDIA buying nonsense from its customers to fund them buying hardware from NVIDIA.

This crash will be worse.

Over the next few years, regional incubators were a cheaper way of funding startups. During that period, I watched a few of those go through a pattern where the funded companies would all become customers of each other, swapping around the same cash for services.

Without outside revenue, ...

... a massive drop in NASDAQ the following day. The deal was eventually called off.

That was when I realized the whole thing was going to fall apart when some actual economic shock hit--when the fake numbers had to deal with reality numbers.

Less than a year later, the crash started.

I was working at Tripod, part of Lycos, in 1999. Acquisition was in the air, and USA Networks (the company behind the cable channel) announced our acquisition.

But Lycos stock was inflated, and the offer was based on more grounded finances (e.g. actual revenue), so the announcement led to...

If the Dems have that majority, and Trump isn't performing his constitutional duties, then impeachment follows.

My understanding is that the interests backing the ostensibly moderates also have a major problem with the format and election of the new council overall. Basically, the old system was easier to influence, the new one gives rise to people staunchly trying to effect change.

Is that accurate?

This is yet another way Dem messaging is failing. We need the opposition party to say "this was illegal" and "this breaks laws X/Y/Z" even if they can't/won't prosecute, because it will be heard by people who have sworn not to obey illegal orders.

Say it loudly, say it often.

It's tough to stay humble when everything you say is inexplicably a different color than the rest of the text.

The polls I saw were still at net -2, but honestly even that is an incredible groundswell of support that the Dems should be taking advantage of.

IMO, "abolish and prosecute" should be the slogan, because that sets "who to prosecute" as the negotiable thing, with "abolish" as table stakes.

Ah, crap, you're absolutely right. I'll sit on this idea for the third in the series.

Add a subplot where AI-generated toons are walking around (or moving around by weirdly morphing), and spouting encouraging nonsense to any passerby.

It seems to crop up in the corporate world as "assume good faith", which is pushed whenever bad faith is clearly evident.

The quote about America being full of temporarily embarrassed millionaires is wrong. It's full of temporarily embarrassed tyrants.

The country is full of ppl who believe the success is the ability to take what you want, from whom you want, and be poweful enough to weather the consequences.
