Yes, it all began with Bush vs. Gore.

As prophesied in Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death, journalism (along with every other major social institution, including our political system), was subsumed by the entertainment industry.

The goal of journalism, as practiced by the major news organizations, is not to inform, but to entertain.

As the ancient Canadian joke goes, "How can you tell when it's November in Toronto? It's when the Leafs start falling."

375 carrier landings? That's nuts!

In the early astronaut corps, the Air Force test pilots would joke about never trusting anyone crazy enough to land jet planes on a "floating raft".

The very definition of circular logic.

And to make it worse, they all worked under the direction of Ted Cruz, who ran Bush's Florida recount operation.

It's simply amazing how Rod Serling and crew were able to crank out quality scripts like this every week for 39 weeks a season.

And of course the Times sends out the reporter who covered him in 2024 to write the story. He has every incentive in the world to demean Bidan as a way of removing his fingerprints off his body.

Scientists refer to this phenomenon as the Mamdani Effect, which only occurs the day after a socialist gets elected to office.

Don't forget the Frankfurt School. Nothing like a little Marcuse, Adorno or Habermas to stir up the base.

Both.

It all began with Bush vs. Gore. Lacking any standing to intervene in Florida's recount (later admitted by Justice O'Connor), the Court created a flimsy pretext that Bush's civil rights were being violated by the delay in the recount. They then declared this intervention to be non-precedent setting.

I always go back to Sen. Eugene McCarthy's famous description of the centrist who, "once the battle is safely over, walks around the battlefield shooting the wounded".

I still think his book, The Game, was the greatest sports book ever written. I still pick it up every once and awhile and read a chapter or two.

In the book, he and his fellow Canadiens were very bitter about what the bully Flyers had done to the game of hockey. They saw their dynasty as payback.
